Question redoing our living quarters in our horse trailer. Have insulation up .We want to eventually do the soft touch ceiling and walls. My question is do we have to put furring strips in ?or is there another way to do it. If we put furring strips up and then attached our soft touch what ever we choose leather or it will bring ceiling in goose neck down so much you can barely sit up in sleep ing area. Help please . Thanks so much. I am sure this has been discussed before.

I have the same issue. Any thing on the ceiling reduces my headroom. My head brushes the bare ceiling ribs sitting up on a thin futon mattress. I chose to insulate only between the ribs. Then, 1/8 inch thick FRP to cover the rigid foam panels. Held up with Stainless screws. It's important to use SS screws since the heads will get wet with condensate. I didn't want rust stains on the bright white ceiling. In sub freezing weather, I can feel the cold ribs through the FRP. A single 1500 watt heater keeps the LQ comfortable even hot. It worked for me.
