Hi All,I'm heading to High Knob for vacation next month and wondered if I'd need shoes all around and pads on the front? Normally I ride with just shoes on the front and do fine but it's not very rocky where I ride.My shoer suggested just to put shoes on the front with pads but I've always put shoes all around for vacation with pads on the front when riding in Southern Missouri but it's been 15 years since I've been to Shawnee and I think I needed shoes all around & pads on front.ThanksDebbie

My wife and I rode at Shawnee [High Knob] 3 days last summer. Our quarter horses had shoes on the front and barefoot on the back. We did not have any problems. Have a great time.

I think it is prudent to always have them shod. AND, don't cut the heels down too close on your quarterhorses! It cost me a 10 hour round trip to get another horse once... Shawnee is one of my fav rides, enjoy!
