I am adding some goodies to our living quarters to make winterizing easier, I have the sureflo pump with the external strainer. I want to add the syphon to not fill the holding tank with antifreeze, but with the strainer I cannot install the three way valve and stuff. Can I just loose the strainer? Or can I install the valve some were else?

You need the strainer! Small particles, sludge, road dirt, solids that precipitate out of well water all collect at the bottom of the freshwater holding tank. As soon as you add water the solids will be stirred up and when drawn into the pump they will damage the pump till it will not hold any pressure.I spent 8 hours cleaning my tank and strainer a few years back, I had a lot of stuff at the bottom of my tank.
