Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | Going to Ky. next week to deliver a horse. Do I need a "up to date" (as in done in the past 30 days) Health Certificate to enter West Va. and Ky. with a horse? I got my negitive Coggins, was wondering if W.V. and Ky. were anything like Fl. so far as having a health cert. and stopping at a Ag. Inspection Station. It's been a while and was wondering if the laws and their way of doing "things" have changes over the past few years. |

| We trailer to MO a lot to ride, and I know their laws say you have to have a health certificate.I found out by going on that state's website Dept.of Agriculture or Livestock Commission site. |

| I know a health certificate is required for GA, SC, NC and I would expect any of one of the states if you are traveling out of your home state. Better be safe than sorry, I guess. Later |

| I live in Ky and a current Health (last 30 days) and coggins (last 6 months) is required to travel through Ky if not from Ky. And that really should be good through any state that you travel through. My vet only charges $15.00 for health papers and believe me it is worth it. If you get caught without the other outcome is much worse. Good Luck and be careful traveling. |

Location: Arkansas | If you travel a lot, check with your vet about a health cert call Passport....make sure the states you go to reciprocate, and I think they are good for 6 months at a time....we have those here in Arkansas |

Location: Youngstown, OH | I've traveled to Lexington, KY to show for many years. You are required to have an interstate health certificate, but they don't have an Ag station like FL. You are only required to present your papers if you are stopped. |

Location: Southern Indiana | We show in Kentucky and YES you are required to have a coggins within one year and CVi(certificate of veterinary inspection) within 30 days. THere was an agriculture inspector at the entrance of the show grounds a month ago............ |

Location: Columbia, TN | This is a weird subject that I hear a lot of discussion about. I was told the last time I went to LBL that we would have to have health papers. I live in TN and the Wrangler campground is 4 miles over the Kentucky line, in fact we usually ride part of the time in TN. 15 dollars a horse is 30 dollars a trip for me. I carried them for about 7 or 8 years going to Emminence and never got checked. I think you can call a vet and have him take their temp and get one may cost 100 bucks. I quit getting them about 15 years ago going to MO. When going to South Dakota I had them and when going to Texas I had them. So I have not been going to LBL since and I really like that place. I didn't have them going to South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia. |

Location: MO | WE travel all over. Every state has a HC requirement if you unload your horses in that state - and in most cases it must be within 30 days. The only exceptions I am aware of are those states that have reciprocal "passports". Unfortunately, MO is not one of those states. They are rarely checked. But, if you are stopped for any reason and don't have one, the fines are big or they may confiscate your horses or rig. |

Location: White Mills, Ky. | Here in KY, the DOT can and will stop you to check health papers. We have been stopped twice. A couple of years ago, a group of us were headed to TN. Three trucks and trailers. He pulled us all over and checked everyones papers and even looked in the trailers to be sure the papers matched the horses' descriptions. He was very nice and friendly but also very serious about his job. The funny thing was, we had just begun our trip...we were only 10 miles from home! RIDE ON! |

Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | Thanks for all the help and tips on "Health Certificates". All my horses paperwork is in the center console in the truck ready to roll 1st thing tomorrow morning. Maybe it will be a better travel day on Wens. Today it's suppose to get anywhere from 97-100 degrees. I'll leave tomorrow morning around 02:00, that should put me in or near Lexington Ky. around 11:00 or 11:30 am. Mapquest says 8hrs 40mins or 535 miles. Going to try to beat the heat. |
