We are heading to Arkansas this fall and having never ridden there wondering which place do you prefer as far as riding and their campground. Caney Mountain or Falling Waters. Will be there for 7 days.

We have ridden both several times and really enjoy both. Falling water has hook ups, Caney does not. Caney has more miles of trails and is a little more challenging. But FW has more than a weeks worth of trails. FW has some nice water falls if the water is running. Town is closer at FW for any nonhorse people. Charles at Caney rides most days and his neighbor will ride with you if you go ask him. PM me with any questions and I will give you an answer.

What's going on with FW? Have a family member who says she has tried to reach the owners twice by phone and once by email and isn't able to reach anyone yet- trying to make reservation but it's apparently not easy to do. Does anyone know anything?

I have two numbers 1-479-372-5901 & 1-870-294-5051. If these don't work let me know and I will try something different

The coordinates at the front gate are N36 00.628' W092 23.986. I went in front of it yesterday. If you like to camp more than ride go their. If you want better riding go to Caney. At Sheltons you ride out and back the same way across a large pasture every day it appears

We just got back. Mary is running Falling Water as she stated the other owner has cancer. Leave a message on the answering machine she will call you back. This was our first time there. One part of our groups truck caught fire going up 7 to Jasper. That was the worst hill I have ever had to climb, my temp gauge didn't like me but we made it, it was 100 outside and humid. When we left we went south on 7 to 40 then to 49 back to Kansas City longer drive but much better roads. Based on drive and trails I prefer going to Panther Creek that is closer to me or Huckleberry in Pineville. But it was pretty and the falls were running. The stalls were great, campsite nice, bathhouse was clean, and Mary was very nice.

Seven down from Jasper is a booger.several truck run-offs have been built along it.the road down from Jims to Jasper isn't a party either.if we go to falling Water we will go down toward Conway and across 40 then up to Dover.no way am I going on 7.

Just got back from Falling Water and it is everything we look for when camping.  Nice level campsites with electric and water.  Clean shower houses and nice stalls.  We rode 6 days and could have rode 6 more although a 6 hour ride is usually all we go.  Well run by Mary and she guided us out to Pedestal Rock.  Excellent map and trails are well marked.  I would call the trails moderate except going up to Pedestal Rock. We trailered from Ohio and came down 7 from Branson at 10:00 at night in the fog.   Sharp and hilly road.  Never do that again. We went back thru Russellville and hit 40 and much better road.  Just wished this camp was closer because definitely would go back/!!!
