I need help. I just purchased a used 2011 Sundowner LQ and had it delivered from out of state. I never saw the trailer before I received it. ( No comments please) The trailer looks to be in great shape, but the manuals I have are no help in solving the following issues. I would appreciate any advise on the following problems:

1. Sliding step does not slide out. It seems to be stuck in place. Is there a pin or ? that releases the step? I have gotten down on my back to look but can't really see why the step will not pull out.

2. How does one turn on the heater? The small toggle (?) at the top of the thermostat that says off does not move?? I took the cover off of the thermostat and it is bracketed in ( sorry if this is a poor description) The switch on the bottom of the unit moves freely back and forth, so I do not know what is going on.

3. My friend who is on the road with her living quarter's trailer as we speak says that there should by a "control panel" in the living quarters portion of the trailer that reads out battery charge, water levels etc. For the life of me I cannot find this panel. Is there one in my trailer, if so, where?

I will be taking the trailer to my local shop to have it gone through, but am hoping I can get the above questions answered without too much fanfare.

Thank you in advance for any responses. I am an almost 60 year old school teacher who is very excited about having a bathroom and a shower to come back to after long trail rides.

Congrats!

Some of those slider steps have a black rubber plunger at the back of them, that can be very stiff. Especially when cold.
On the monitor panel- look at the vent hood. Many are there.
Furnace thermostat- on some of them, the little switch can be very stiff. Very... I'm thinking what you are calling the "bracket" is actually the part that keeps it from moving accidentally. Try a little WD-40, and then something like a pencil to ease it over.

Congrats on the new trailer. When I retired, we got our first GN with just a little weekend pkg. I was thrilled to be able to stand up and get dressed after camping in our little truck topper for years. Don't feel embarrassed about buying sight unseen; I've done it before, too. One can get "surprises" no matter what the situation. I think you're smart to have it looked over by a shop regardless. Willing to bet there are Sundowner owners on this forum who are willing to help walk you through this process. When we got our new trailer with full LQ, it was an adventure learning all the nice perks. I have a few funny ones! Too long to post. Good luck!

Just had to reply once again. Eureka!!! took your advice on the thermostat and put some wd 40 on it. Worked like a charm. Happy to say the heater is up and running. Yahoo! Haven't worked on the slide out step yet, (just haven't wanted to lay down on the cold ground, but if the fix is as easy as the last one, I am feeling much more confident about the rig. I have a few months to advance my learning curve before heavy usage, and I am grateful for that. There is just a lot more "stuff" to understand. Thank you so much again for your advice
