I am thinking about trading trailers.  I have an Elite and I believe Elite to be one of the better made trailers.  I can't afford a brand new one so I am thinking of just trading up to a newer model.  I can't find what I am looking for in an Elite and have always heard that Hart makes a good trailer.   Can anyone validate this?  I defnitely want an aluminm trailer.  Any pros or cons out there?

I have owned both brands, and had a LQ and a non LQ of each brand. Both are extremely well made and you are comparing apples to apples. It does seem like Harts depreciate slower than Elites do.

My Hart LQ had their honey comb roof which really seemed to make a big difference in high heat.

I don't think you can go wrong with either brand!

Love our Harts. Very well made and solid but some people find them heavy. You will want to ensure you have enough truck to pull it. We have a 2006 Hart 3H x 26 ft on the floor x 8 ft wide with a 13 ft LQ (11,500 lbs with empty LQ / pin weight = 3900 lbs empty). Trailer weighs 16,700 lbs loaded with 2 horses, hay, water and camping supplies with a 4400 lb pin weight. Also have a day trailer which is a 2008 Hart 3H x 21 ft on the floor x 7'6" wide (6200 lbs empty / pin weight = 1520 lbs empty). Love them both. If they are still making them as good as they did 10 years ago, then you will be happy. We looked at older Elites too when we were buying but in our opinion, we thought that the Harts were better made. Regards, 3CW

Have both. I like the Hart (3rd Hart we've had) due to the roof and floor better for our LQ trailer. Roof is mostly hail proof on the Hart, Elite's sheeting dents easy, and the floor of the Hart are extruded planks and I think stronger than the Elite's I beam/sheeting approach.

I like our Elite stock/combo better due to it is lighter, the plyglass works better than Hart's plexiglass system, and the floor and walls are easier to get cow poop off. Also, Elite was willing to put the saddle rack on the doors, Hart would not without an expensive special order. I just don't like the Hart stock type trailer design.

Thank you all very much.  That is good to know.  I have a 2011 250 diesel, so I think I'm okay.  My current Elite is a 3 horse and I rarely pull 3 horses.

Love my Elite and can't recommend them higher and I've toured the Hart factory.  The weight of the Hart trailer, whether real or imagined will hurt on the resale value.  Elites are known to be easily resold and hold a nice resale value.  The real key (since these are apples/apples) is how great of a deal can you get on buying one.  That would be my biggest factor in chosing with all things being equal.  Find one that's either your dream trailer or the one that's such a great deal you can't pass it up.  Either of these brands will serve you well and will be happily welcomed into any reputable repair shop if the need should arise.  (I love the way my Elite tows, it's better than our Featherlite!)

I looked at Elite, Hart and Cimmaron last fall. I ended up buying a new Hart 3H GN. I love it. I toured their factory and was incredibly impressed. I had planned on buying an Elite for my next trailer, but I really liked the Hart floor AND their roof better. Plus, I have yet to read a bad review of them. My trainer (who pulls a Cimmaron) had told me Hart is the best trailer made. I think resale value is good for either. I had the WERM floor installed in my Hart so should not ever have to worry about corrosion. I pulled it home from Oklahoma (1000 miles) empty, with a 3/4 ton Chevy (gas, no dually). I had no trouble at all, but it is heavier (5000#) than my previous trailer (a Sundowner 3H GN which weighed under 4000). I absolutely LOVE the Hart!
