We are going to build bunk beds in our LQ in our trailer. Where does everyone recommend we get the mattresses?

Mastercraft Inc. in Lagrange IN will make high-density foam mattresses to size, but getting them shipped might be a problem. Their phone # is 260-463-8702.

I am also looking at building bunk beds in our LQ's. I was looking at ordering a couple mattresses from Cabela's (Cabela's Deluxe Camp Bed – 30" x 68" x 3").

The "mattress" in our gooseneck is 3- or 4-inch thick upholstery foam, covered by an egg-crate, then topped with a feather bed, and we love it. The upholstery foam can be purchased at someplace like Joann Fabrics, you use an electric knife to cut it easily to the size you want. Use aerosole spray craft glue if you need to glue pieces of foam, or the egg crate to the foam. We put a "feather bed", one of those things that is like a mattress pad, that is puffy or down filled, over top of the egg crate. It's an additional layer of softness, and it keeps you from getting hot from laying on the foam with only a sheet over it.

We built bunk beds in our trailer and ordered twin mattresses online from a semitrailer supply company - they are slightly narrower than a regular twin but have a heavier covering so they take more abuse from kids. They come rolled up in a box about 3 ft X 6 X 6 inches.
