I recently purchased a Sundowner 4 horse that has a beautiful polished chrome exterior. Beautiful and not entirely practical! I routinely use the trailer to take my students and their horses to one day shows where we tie to the trailer. I am trying to figure out a way to protect the chrome from the hay nets and teeth when the horses are tied to the trailer. Any suggestion or recommendations for hanging mats or protectors for the chrome at the tie rings? Thanks in advance!

That would be polished stainless steel on the side of your trailer... It will scratch really easy, salty sweat also has an adverse affect on it. You may want to call over to LB's in Harmony, N.C. just north of you, they are Sundowner dealers and have sold alot of stainless wrapped trailers. Check with them, they may know of a way to fix those scratches. Speak to Brian, I thinks that's his name.

Be careful tieing to it on a sunny day. The reflection can be pretty brutal also.

The sun reflecting off of one started a fire on a decorative hay bale at an equine display a few years ago. No major damage done, but quite surprised those standing around when it happened.

You can apply some automotive clear coating over the affected areas. It will also eventually become damaged, but until then it will protect the metal and make its cleaning much easier.

A while ago we shot some clear over the stainless nose of a friend's GN trailer. Bug clean up is a snap and the stainless has almost no oxidation, staying much better looking with simple washing maintenance.

As the paint deteriorates, it can be re freshened and reapplied.
