Have searched the internet for a diamond plate battery box to mount on the outside bulkhead of our gn mule trailer.  Anyone know where I can find a reasonably priced box that has the 45* cover that will lift off and give front access to easily remove the battery without lifting it straight up?

Thank you,

Mary

I use a 2ft aluminum "underbody" box.
I don't remember exactly, but I think it is 18 high and 18 deep.
These have a fold down front that serves as a shelf when open, though if you plan to get the battery (batteries, I have 3 in mine) in and out have a few pieces of 5/4 decking off cuts handy to get it over the lip.

You didn't ask this, but DO NOT overfill lead acid batteries that will be stored in an aluminum box.
The electrolyte level changes with the state of charge, so it is easy to have them overflow.

Mary, there is a company in Ft.Worth that will build whatever you want, size, shape and all.  If I remember right it is call R&D sheet metal on Fock steet off of Whitesettlement Road and University Drive.  I can get the number for you on Monday.  I have used them on a number of thing including diamond tread running boards for an older steel trailer and also made me a nice diamond tread jack cover to dress it up with.  I just took the trailer to them and showed them what I wanted and they built it.

These are SIMILAR to what I have;
http://www.dawsbetterbuilt.com/bbt/underbody.html
The 24 inch one mounted up under the gooseneck on the left side, it has three full size LARGE batteries in it and a few tools.
The lid drops forwards and forms a shelf, but DO close it before moving the trailer (-:

Thank you everyone for the replies and ideas!  Sorry to take so long to get back on here to thank ya'll, busy time of year plus ground working a young mule, leaves little time to peruse the forum.

Merry Christmas to all.

Mary B. in north Texas.
