First off, I understand everything is an opinion. No flaming each other please, I just want an honest answer.

I found the perfect trailer basically 20 minutes from my home. Problem is, it's a Horton. I've seen a few here and there at horse shows, but never really looked at them.

I started searching for a website or something to give me more information on them and what I found was interesting. I was directed to a modular home site with a Horton Trailers page on it.

I searched trailer talk and came up with one very little thread on it with 1 response.

Best I can tell..they've been made since 2000. So does anyone know about the construction, durability, and service available??

I just want to get the best bang for my buck. Would I be better off going with a more "name brand" trailer as far as service and resale value goes?

Thanks!

We camped with some folks that had one. They are aluminum skin with a steel frame. I really like the trailer. It had lots of head room in the gooseneck but as far as how well built they are, I could not tell you. Are they still making them new?

Well, horton trailer, no longer makes a horse trailer, they still DO  make enclosed trailers and equipment trailers, they have been out of the horse trailer biz for a few years, resale on them is so-so, with that being said, if your looking for an aluminum skin trailer with a steel frame, that would be a horton, as far as service, who knows ??? if they dont build horse trailers anymore, it may be hard to get warranty work, i have seen where the necks of some of the LARGE horton living quarters have buckeled up and the aluminum looks like a crushed soda can, this probaly is not the problem on all of the horse trailers horton built, but look at it like this,  is the trailer priced right ??  does it look to be in good condition ???   use your best judgement when looking at the trailer with your own eyes, remember, trailers are hand built, one at a time by people, not like cars, every trailer can have a diffrent problem.

I work for a trailer dealership we will not hardly trade for them I have takin a couple on cosignment and sold them. I would not recommend them at all. I talk to one customer that had a 6 horse head to head and when she loaded all of her horse in the trailer the posts dropped out of the roof and the dividers fell over.

Thanks for the responses! You guys confirmed my worst fears, the fact they're out of business. I appreciate the expiriences you've posted.

The trailer is priced right, but I haul A LOT. So buying a trailer that has a lack of service and some possible structural problems is not in my future.
