Does anyone have any ideas on trailer storage?  I was thinking about building a "lean to" to back into, but didnt know if anyone had any advice or experience with the pre fab car port like things....i think they usually come with out sides...any help would be appreciated.

I don't see why a lean to couldn't be a good place to store a trailer. I'd try to make it face to the south if at all possible ( I live in a wintery snowy weather area) Since I do plan to use my trailer in the winter, I'd like to be able to have access to it rather than lock it up tight until spring.

I too use my trailer weekly, Even during the winter. So I really don't put it into storage.

Getting ready for winter for me, Involves a good cleaning. I empty out the horse stalls and pressure wash the floor, walls and even underside of the roof. put the mats back in and add new shavings. Since I've just finished hunting season, which involved hauing down several forest service dirt roads, The outside of the trailer needs a good washing. So I do all of this before it really freezes up around here.  As winter arrives, I will visit a car wash periodically to make sure I keep the road salt off the trailer.

Yes you can build a lean to.  Yes you can stand up one of the fabric based awnings.  Depends how permanent you wan the structure to be and how much time and money you want to spend.  Make sure the fabric awnings are snow load rated if you live in that climate

The BEST way to preserve your trailer is to shelter it from the sun and rain.  I have some equipment that is not sheltered and some that is.  The sheltered equipment is in way better condition than the unsheltered stuff.  Even if it's used dailly.

We have several carport style trailer sheds. I prefer the wood and shingle style over the metal. As we got longer we had to add another shelter. Looks like we may need to add an extension as a couple feet of the truck hang out.

I am thinking about buying one of those trailer covers for our trailer this year.  It leaves a door opening which will be good because we do run in a out during the winter just to check on things or get tack out for a quick ride.  They run around $240 for a 26' one.

The covers are called horse trailer cover ups and I found them on eBay and also Valley Vet has the same at about the same price and both offer free shipping.

We had one of those cloth covers like that for a trailer when we were stationed in MD. OMG It was a royal pain in the ass to put on and take off. Since I need to use my trailers on and off thru the winter, I need the type I can can just just drive under. Plus, I always have at least one of the rigs hooked up and ready to roll at a moments notice.

The carports can be ordered with sides if you want them. The additional price is modest.
