I have heard that Silverlite went out of business.  Does anyone know if that is true?

cowboyjake, Siver Star went out of business.  To my knowledge (local Oregonian) Silverlite did not.

Silverlite went out of business around the middle of May.  They held an auction and liquidated everything.

guess that would explain it. and i just went to the website again and this time hit the home page instead of doing the contacts page. It says it right on the home page. guess my brain is too mushy from the heat.

anyone have suggestions for alternate replacement? Had a hole put in the living quarters door from the exterior lite. (wind caught hold of it and it just smashed the lite cover and put a hole in the upper area of the door.) My one option is just to have it patched, which may be my only option but I was hoping to replace the complete door.

thanks,
cassie

itshotinaz-I'm sure that one of the guys will chime in. I am at work and can't see either of my trailers. Will the damage and construction of the door allow the replacement of the skin only? Is just the skin damaged but the structural integrity still OK? Perhaps just the skin can be replaced? If so, does your local dealer have a good fab shop? Can they do it?If it were me, even though your trailer is a Silverlite, and not a Siverado, I'd give the guys at Silverado a call. I'll bet that they can and will give you the information which you need. They are a great group of people and Silverlite was, and Silverado is, located (headquarters and manufacturing facility) in Springfield, OR. Springfield isn't exactly a large place. I'll wager that all these guys know each other and that some Silverlite folks worked at Silverado. Also, the I5 auction was local. I got a flyer. Somebody must have picked up the Silverlite inventory. itshotheretoo, Southern OR

Is this a custom built door, built by the trailer mfg.? Or, is it a regular RV camper style door....? Like these?

Used RV doors... http://www.ericksonsrv.com/

If it is an RV door, you should be able to locate something there in Az. Plenty RV's in your area.

hmmmm.. it appears you know something. But yes, it appears it's only the skin. The door is intact, no damage to the frame, hinges, etc. I'm sure that the insurance co. will only pay for the patchwork due to that reason. I was just hoping to have it replaced or at least get the stickers to match the current scheme that is already on the trailer.

However, my awning was also a complete loss but I know that any RV place will be able to take care of that.

thank you all for the info.

Thanks for the links.  I will look at those and present prices to the ins co to see if it will just be a patch done or if they will replace the door.

Silverado is also out of business.  As was mentioned earlier, replacing the skin on the door will probably be the most cost effective route.  If not, the doors Silverlite used were pretty standard and you can probably call the manufacturer and order one.  If not, I believe Royal T bought all the doors at the Silverlite auction so you might be able to get one from them.  Matching the graphics will probably prove to be the most difficult part.  If we can help please feel free to give us a call.
