Whew we usually spend the holiday camping and riding. Last few years the choice has been Cedar Lake in Oklahoma. Just went to make reservations and sure cut it close. There were only 4 electrical spots left. First time I have been when the camp was full. Thats a great feeling, seeing the economy recover enough that the camp is filling back up during nice riding weather. Now I just hope the storms stay away. We rode to Emerald Vista last Christmas in the snow. While it was breathtakenly beautiful, it was equally as cold. I want to make that ride again in nicer weather. Anyone else spending the holiday at Cedar Lake?

Patti,
Since it is hunting season in OK, do you worry about that at Cedar lake?

No we dont worry about hunters. Its usually cool and hunters usually come out of the woods by 10 am and dont go back in until probably 3pm. We have seen very few hunters in that area. Robbers Cave closes one side of the trail system, the WMA for hunters. Cedar Lake does not and I am not sure they are allowed along the trail areas. They certainly arent up on the steeper trails where we usually ride. I imagine if it was a huge issue, the camp would not be so full. We have ridden there the last several years during Thanksgiving and Christmas. We do wear the hunter orange, but never an issue. So just come on and have fun. You can call the Ranger Station before hand and check on the non-reservable electric sites. I imagine there will be open slots as they have alot of electric.
