I bought a 2007 Toyota Tundra Limited, I copied the following specs
Maximum towing capacity: 10300 lbs.
Maximum payload: 1655 lbs.
Gross weight: 7100 lbs.
Gross weight: 0.38 in.
Curb weight: 5465 lbs.

I don't understand what all of this means and would like any advice that anyone can give me in regards to trailers. I would love to have a lq or weekender trailer but I do not want to buy another truck. Does anyone know if there are any gn lq or weekender trailers that I can safely pull with the Tundra.

It's a 2007 Toyota Tundra Limited 4x4
5.7L v8 6 spd double cab

An 8 foot living quarter is out of the picture. Maybe a porta potty in a dressing room gooseneck that is a two maybe three horse.

I'm with GONE on this one.....  Maybe a light weight 2' or 4'SW in a 2 horse would be tops.  These are nice trucks but really not built for towing gooseneck trailers with weekend or LQ packages.  Not to mention the short distance you will have between the cab and trailer will hurt being able to turn sharp.

Just need to look at some trailers and find out how heavy they are.  Pulling any type of trailer is only part of the problem, trying to STOP it is the other!

I have seen some really nice bp lq trailers. Lakota makes one and so does Express & EquiSpirit I believe.
I didn't buy the truck with the intent of pulling a trailer but it would be nice if I could find something. I really don't want to have to buy a truck just to occasionally tow.
The issue you mentioned about the cab being to close has been a concern that's why I am hoping to find an expert to help me :)
I have been driving lq trailers for years, but never had to buy one myself. Thanks for all of the help!! I appreciate it.

A three horse Exiss GN with a weekender 4' package weighs ~5500 # empty. The same trailer without an LQ weighs ~4700# empty. Your pay load is only 1500#. There isn't going to be much of any LQ that will fit your parameters.

A dressing room GN is estimated to average a 25% pin weight. This would equate to a 6000# trailer loaded with horses and gear. A LQ GN can have pin weight percentages above 35%, which would quickly exceed your carrying capacity.

You can tow more than you can carry.

My tow capacity is 10300
My trucks GVWR is 7100

Do you add the GVWR and the weight of the trailer and cargo and subtract that from the tow capacity? I am just trying to understand how much weight I can safely tow whether it be a lq or any trailer.

So much to learn!!

you should not exceed the GCVWR which is 11800 for all V8 Tundras according to sales brochure. Also, DO NOT exceed either the rear axle rating (3760# on the truck, I looked at; check the door sticker on yours), nor the GVWR. The listed payload weight is not how much cargo you can carry. It's the weight of occupants, plus equipment (including factory options), plus cargo.

So if the GCVWR is 11800 and my trucks GVW is 7100 and the horses weigh 2000 then that means the trailer I tow cannot weigh more than 2700, is that correct?
Also keeping in mind the GAWR.

The chart on this page comparing to a Chevy 1500 shows the 2007 Toyota Tundra Double Cab Limited 4WD with a towing capacity of 10300# and a GCVWR of 16000#.... Don't those trucks have Tacoma gears under them??http://www.trucktrend.com/roadtests/suv/163_0704_fullsize_truck_comparison/specs_pricing.html

your trailer can be more than 2,700lbs, consider the gross weight as the max load it can be on your truck, so if you are towing it means: truck, cargo, people, gas and the pin weight of the trailer (that's why you should look for a trailer with not that much pin weight, also load your heaviest horse on the axles, not the front stall as that would increase the pin weight by a greater factor). You should also have a GCVWR (truck+trailer) that you should not exceed. The more your truck in optioned or burden by equipments/cargo the less of the GCVWR is available for the trailer. We used to have a 05 F150 and we pulled a BP that was around 7000lbs: it was doable. You should consider that horses (livestock in general) are a much harder cargo to transport: higher center of gravity, more areo drag(taller trailers, open windows), and the fact that you can't really slam on your breaks unless you really need to...I think Lakota has some pretty nifty BP LQ: just watch the pin weight
