We are just beginning the horse trailer search and don't really know where to start... It's a jungle out there.

I do know that we want a 2 horse slant trailer with no rear tack, only a front tack, no living quarters, no ramp, and the pull-down barred windows rather than the open slats.

I'll accept any information - what to look for, pros and cons of different features, brands and their pros and cons, your favorite types of horse trailers, etc. Thanks!

Other than the rear tack-do I have a trailer for you!!! I would say your best bet is a good used simply because the newer they are the more features you don't want have been added. You didn't say if you preferred steel or aluminum but WW, Circle D and several of the makers who have been around since the beginning still make what you are looking for. This is a great place to start looking, also usedtrailers.com is a good place to look. equine.com has several ways to narrow your search to exactly what you are looking for also. Good luck!

Bumper pull or gooseneck? And remember, most rear tacks can fold or remove so don't get too hung up on looking for one without.

I am looking for an aluminum trailer, and we need a bumper pull. I hadn't really thought about the collapsible rear tack, although I was aware of those. Thanks for the help.Does anybody know anything on specific brands? I suppose an open slat windowed trailer would be okay, but I would prefer one with the windows that you can open by letting the bars down for safety matters.I am looking more for low cost horse trailers, as we only have about $5000 to spend if we stretch it a bit. I'd really like to be in the $4000 range and below, which I know is where you get the used trailers, but the Sundowners and Jamcos and 4-Stars and such aren't going to be in my price range.Thanks.

The other thing I have to keep in mind is that the trailer has to be very lightweight. Our truck doesn't have that much towing capacity. If we could afford to purchase a better truck we would, but it's not going to happen as of now.

I am also just starting out a search for a trailer.  We are looking for 3h, but currently have a very larger draft cross (not sure of his current size, the mice ate my measuring tape).  Does anyone have suggestions?  We are currently looking at a 2002 wrangler 3h slant.  Thanks.

Anyone have any experience with the earlier models of Sundowner (2000 to 2005) L. Q's ??? Starting to see some used models showing up that look like good value, but don't know much about them or how they stand up.
