Given a choice between two specific trailers, would you buy an 8 year old Kiefer Genesis X3 or a 5 year old Cherokee Tomahawk?  Comparable features and price.

I'm considering this very same question. Does anyone have any comments? I know nothing about Cherokee. Thank you.

Both trailers seem to be quality builds. Which trailer fits the towing and weight rating of your tow vehicle?? I don't want to be the weight police here. I only want to share my experience with you. Several weeks ago I was looking at two trailer brands, in the end the trailer that fit the capacity of my tow vehicle won.

We recently sold our Cherokee only because the weekender package was too small. Otherwise, we'd have kept it forever. It was heavy, but bombproof. They are *very* well-built trailers.

We pull a Cherokee Super Chief, bought in 09, and love it. I believe Keifer has gone out of business. Therefore since Cherokee is still in business, in Oklahoma City, I think I would go with the trailer that it would be easier to get parts for, which would be the one with a factory still operating.

Kiefer is still in business and a nice trailer. I have a GMC 2500 HD to pull with but my problem is finding a trailer that has the essentials but not over loaded with extra things I have to pay for. They are beautiful but I don't need too many extras. It seems it's all or nothing. I wish I could find one with AC and a bathroom put in. So many have everything else but the part ya really need. I don't have a Cherokee dealer in Iowa but am really considering that trailer as a replacement for what I have. I don't find too many used Cherokees listed on the web either. Can you order from the company?Thank you.

Kiefer did go out of business temporarily. Just long enough for me to lose my 8 year warranty. I have owned both a 2005 Cherokee Tomahawk and now a 2008 Kiefer Genesis X-8093. No complaints about either brand other than the Kiefer came with CRAP tires but I was able to get a payback from the crappy tire company so it all worked out. I owned the Cherokee for a lil over a year and only traded cause it was too small. I had no problems from the Cherokee. I bought the Kiefer new in 2008 and haul somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 to 2 times a month. Only problem with the Keifer has been that the second rubber seal (they have two) around the rear doors peeled off pretty early on, but I do not seem to be having a problem with any leaking around the doors.

I've been in the process of ordering a Cherokee Tomahawk. Delivery is running a little late, we don't have it yet, but Cherokee has so far been great to work with. I'm sure they could put in the a/c and bathroom you are wanting without the extras you don't. We ordered ours with electric, electric jack, electric awning, no carpet so we can finish it out. I read alot of reviews before going with this brand.
