I have always thought the GVCW can not exceed your axle(s) rating.Example I have seen a trailer label on a 2005 Sundowner 8013. The label states the trailer has 2 7500 lb axles. The GVCW is at 18750. So if this label is correct the axles are over loaded by 3,750 lbs right?? OR did I miss that day in school LOL.Thanks for your help!!

No the tag is right, that's 15,0000 for the axles to carry and 3750 for the tow vehicle to carry.

But you are correct to be concerned with exceeding your axles...because if you get near your max, the possibility of creating an axle overload is multiplied...

For what it is worth Bill, that Sundowner very likely has 8,000# axles. But it apparently has LT235/85R16 Load Range "G" tires rated at 3750# ea, or 7500 for the pair. So the GAWR of each axle is limited by the tires, thus 7500#.

Also- Sundowner is going to take 7500 * 2 = 15000# * 1.25 (for pin weight)= 18,750 for the GVWR. That is a standard calculation for them.
