What thickness of plywood/OSB have you used, or plan to use, for your sub-flooring? And, did you put in sleepers/supports? We hope to lay down 3/4" r-max rigid foam insulation, then 1/4" plywood sub-floor, then vinyl sheet flooring. Thinking we might add 1x1 sleepers to high traffic areas too, after reading a post on here about the foam eventually compressing in those areas.

The thickness of the sub flooring will be decided on the spacing of the sleepers. If they are 16" apart, a 3/4" flooring is appropriate. 12" spacing is better served with a least a half inch sub floor. 1/4" plywood is not strong or stiff enough to be used for flooring. If you were to install additional wood flooring instead of sheet materials, you could reduce the thickness of the sub floor a little for a weight saving measure.

Thanks, Gard! It is an Exiss with 4' short wall, and we will have cabinets, and a counter with a sink (all only 18" deep), along the long wall, and a boot box in front of the riser (also 18" deep), so very little open floor space. Does this change any of your recommendations? Also, do I need to lay down plastic before putting in the framework of sleepers? We are concerned about wood (sleepers) contacting aluminum, condensation, rot and mold, and I read somewhere that treated wood can cause aluminum to corrode. Will having that many sleepers affect the r-value of my floor? I don't know what the r-value of pine is. We live in a northern climate, and hope to ride three seasons, but nights can still get pretty cold during Spring and Fall here. And, yes, weight is a HUGE consideration (but we already bought the sheet vinyl--hubby fell in love with it). Thanks, again!

Thank you for the link. That was very informative. I wish HTW would change the search function to include an option for searching for posts older than 360 days old! I probably would have pulled up that post on my own and not had to ask a question that you have probably had to answer a hundred times before! Lol. Thanks, again.

I have a 3ft shortwall with the door on the long wall, and did just a foam insulated floor with 1/2" OSB and vinyl sheet flooring. It turned out well and everything is down nice and tight, but wish I'd thought of the sleepers idea. Good to know for next time!
