Subject: turpentine on horse trailer?

just bought a small 2 horse bumper pull that had a small patch of left over old duct tape, I used a dab of turpentine to remove it and washed after with clean dawn soap and water and was amazed at the little spot as how it shined, but did I just mess up??? Pros and cons are welcome

No harm, it's a weak solvent that will eventually evaporate and dull a bit.
