My Older 2Horse Slant gooseneck trailer came with 15" LT Tires. I weas told I had to replace with same (LT tires) instead of Trailer tires? If replacing with Trailer tires would 8 ply (load rangeD) 225/75-15's be correct ?

Welcome to the forum ... If you can find the same size and load range as your old tires. Stay with the LT rated tires. ST or "Special Trailer" service tires are rated to 65 mph.

Industry standards dictate tires with the ST designation are speed rated to 65 MPH (104 km/h) under normal inflation and load conditions.However Goodyear Marathon and Power King Towmax STR tires featuring the ST size designation may be used at speeds between 66 and 75 mph (106 and 121 km/h) by increasing their cold inflation pressure by 10 psi (69 kPa) above the recommended pressure for the rated maximum load.Do not exceed the wheel’s maximum rated pressure. If the maximum pressure for the wheel prohibits the increase of air pressure, then maximum speed must be restricted to 65 mph (104 km/h).

Stay with the LT. The only blow outs we have had with any of our trailers has been with ST tires. LT's are more expensive but you get what you pay for. We just put 4 new Michelins on our trailer with two additional spares for when we haul to TX etc. It is expensive but literally the life of your animals is riding on them.
