I'm "redoing" my 74' Hart. It has a metal roof, with holes, bad seams and all. I have riveted the seams and taped over them, painted the roof with Henry 107, and now it's time to fiberglass patch the holes. Any suggestions on doing this? I've never worked with fiberglass before. Some holes are pin head sized, some are the size of a fifty cent piece.

The 107 will bridge the pin holes. To fill the 50c sized holes, you will have to use the polyester mesh that Hart and many elastomeric coating manufacturers supply. This will allow the asphalt to bridge the larger gaps without cracking and sagging. To install, you wet the area, insert the mesh into the wet roofing material, whilst over lapping good metal by at least 50%. Several layers may have to be applied, until the hole is completely supported. When the asphalt dries, apply enough extra coats to completely fill the mesh of the fabric and extend pass the patches by several inches. This will also fair the area, making the repair less noticeable. It would have been better to first weld patches into the larger holes and apply an epoxy primer to the repaired areas, before applying any surfacing coatings.
