We just bought a 2012 Ford E350 with a V8 5.4 L engine, rated for 6400 lbs max trailer weight. Currently we just have a pony for my 11 year-old son, about 800 lbs (the pony that is). Does anyone have a similar vehicle - did we pick well as far as towing ability?

Any insight/reassurances/advice is welcomed - we have never towed before (have not yet bought a trailer)

You should be fine with no more than you are pulling. As with all trailers just don't try to set speed records. Just take your time and get there. Remember that you are carrying your 11 year old son and a pony with you.
