I've been looking at LQ trailers and have found a few I like. One of the differences is the roofs. Any thoughts on Aluminum vs Fiberglass? I will in the Chicago area.

I love love loved my fiberglass roof. Sooo much cooler on a hot summer day. Will last a long time too if you keep it waxed. The sun will damage everything after a while.

A bare uninsulated aluminum roof will heat up quickly and transmit the heat into the interior of the trailer. If the metal roof is painted a light colour or coated with an elastomeric product, this problem is greatly reduced. Not all fiberglass roofs are constructed equally, and their life spans are determined by the quality of their materials and construction, as well as how and where they are stored. UV light destroys the resins in the fiberglass laminations, weakening the layups. These roofs can also be painted or coated with elastomeric products that can greatly increase their longevity. Fiberglass roofs won't absorb or transmit the heat as well as the aluminum roofs, and in some instances, insulation is not needed in hot climates.
