I am looking at a very nice 1997 Hart 3 horse gooseneck. It has a fiberglass aerodynamic nose cone on the front. I haven't seen these before. It seems like Hart didn't use this design very long. Is it a good feature to save gas and reduce leaks or is it a maintenance problem?

As long as you don't run into something and crack it, I think it would be fine.  I did on my 95 Sundowner and thankfully they had one laying around at the factory.......

Thanks for the info. I did contact Hart and they said cracks, etc could be repaired by auto shops, especially ones that do work on corvettes. If it was really damaged badly I guess you would be out of luck since the outsourced factory which made the fiberglass nose cone is no longer in business. They said to just be sure to calk the seams every two years. Apparently they call this an Aero Nose trailer. Paul

Almost any fiberglass repair can be made to an existing form. The nose piece can be strengthened and repaired as necessary, by several additional sources; trailer repair facilities, boat yards and most FBO aircraft repair shops. With a little experimentation, it can also be an inexpensive and manageable DIY project.

Does anybody out there have any first hand experience with Aero Nose Hart trailers, in particular the fiberglass nose and the reliability/maintenance/issues of it? Paul
