I am looking to purchase a Lakota Bighorn 14' LQ with all the options. I have no experience with a Lakota and I don't know anyone with one either. Has anyone had any bad experiences with their new trailers? I know the older ones weren't good but it seems like they have come a long way. I searched through the threads and didn't find much on the new ones. Thanks in advance!

I have a 2015 Big Horn. I am happy with the trailer and their customer service has been good to work with. I have had a couple of repairs done at my local RV dealer and they have paid over the phone with a credit card.

We got a 2014 Lakota Charger 8311 3 horse LQ w/slide in Nov. last year and Love it. We had a few issues in the beginning but AJ in customer service was great to deal with and took care of everything promptly.Even threw in a few extras for our trouble. In my opinion trailer is very well built, interior is very nice and they will build it pretty much any way you want it.It is very sturdy and pulls much better than our 2002 Sundowner 3 horse LG ever did. Some trips the trailer was loaded with 12 bales of hay, feed, tack, food, water, horses, etc. and it pulled great. We were "dry" camping ( no hook ups) from April to end of Oct. almost every weekend with some week-long trips all over MA,VT,RI,NY,NH,and PA on highways ,dirt roads, mountains, fields, campgrounds with no problems and loved the room and performance of the trailer. Four couples we ride all the time with bought Lakota's around the same time and all love them as well. We would definitely buy another but don't think we will need to for along time.

This may be too little too late but I just got rid of my 2014 Lakota Charger because it wasn't holding up very well at all. It also seemed like every time I went to use the LQ something wouldn't work. I would highly recommend checking all bolts all over the trailer on a regular basis. I found all of the bolts holding the back doors on had loosened and one was gone completely. Lots of "stuff" went wrong on the trailer that had never ever gone wrong with my old Sundowners, KB, or Merhow. I'm back to a 96 Sundowner that is built like a tank. I'm chocking my bad experience to my Lakota having been built on a Monday or Friday I will say the Lakota customer service folks are GREAT!! (probably from having lots of experience....)

Thank you crossing my fingers that they have corrected any issues since I ordered one a couple months ago. I pick it up in a couple of weeks. I'll definitely keep an eye on the bolts and things. Thank you for your advice I hope that mine is built on a Tuesday ;)

I have a 2007 4 horse 10'short wall. Every weld and rivet is inspected every year and none have been found to be bad. My radio works sometimes that is the only issue I have had.

We have a 2010 Lakota Big Horn similar in size to what you ordered. We have had no structural issues with it so far and only minor LQ issues. Everything has worked to this date just fine (I don't want to jinx myself as we're getting ready to head out on a trip, lol). The customer service is very good. There are bad trailers in every brand, in every price range. I have two friends that have purchased Lakotas since I did and both seem very happy with their purchases. Enjoy your new trailer! Nothing is perfect, but it's nice to get as close as possible.

Interesting that several posts say "minor lq issues" to be expected. I am on my 3rd LQ, using 15-20k miles a year for the last 15 years, and I have yet to have "minor" issues on a NEW trailer. IF it is new, you should not have any issues IMO. For what these costs, no matter the brand, they need to be getting it right the first time.

My first LQ was a Hart and it never had a problem. The second was a Cimarron-nose/drop wall cracked-and they lost a customer, and we are on our 3rd year with another Hart and have yet to have to fix even a fuse.

But I will say, owner induced issues continue!!!

Good luck!

I looked at them several years ago and closely compared to other similarly priced trailers. Decided to go with a Merhow which I love. Looked at the this year at EQA, I think they continue to make improvements. Good luck!
