I'm interested in purchasing a 1999 Cherokee Super Chief 3 horse slant trailer that is several hundred miles away. It was purchased unfinished and then a custom interior by a boat company was installed. (By the looks of the pictures, the interior looks heavy) Cabinets, shower, toilet, frig, etc., were installed. I can't find the original weight (the company can't help) or an estimate of the custom living quarters. The lady who owns it says it squatted her 3/4 ton truck. I've got a 2004 Chev 2500 extended cab with an 8 ft bed. (6.0 with 410 gears) It pulls my 2001 Titan Classic with living quarters with no problem or squat. I'd like an estimate on the weight before I drive the distance to see it. Any help??

Hi and Welcome.

We're probably LESS equiped than you are to estimate the now fitted out weight (-:
I'd try to convince the seller that they NEED the weight in order to sell it. For $10 or $15 they can probably get to a local sand & gravel yard and use their scales in a minute or two, though it might take a separate trip to weigh the truck alone and get the difference, since nobody knows what the weight on the coupler is.

Getting the hitch weight and gross weight is the best info.  Short of that, you might find out what truck the present owner has.  Compare her truck to yours.  If it squats her truck as she said, and yours has the same ratings or less (and you intend to use it similarly, ie . number of horses).... It'll squat your truck.

Ask the owner if she can take it to a truck stop. A truck stop will have the scale and all she has to do is drive on it with her truck and trailer. They did not even charge us when we did it. Hope this helps!

We own a 2001 Cherokee Superchhief lqtrs, 3h with 10 ft sw.  The trailer weighs 11,000 lbs.  We tow it with a 1 ton chevy gas dually.  Does fine, but a little slow up hills.

Hope this helps

Hopefully, you mean it weighs 11000 lbs loaded with gear and 3 horses. The factory says this trailer weighs 5060 out of the factory. Then the living quarters was added

Your right, I'm wrong.  Although I'll blame the husband.......

I called Cherokee and they told me that the trailer weighs (approx.) 6,490 lbs. with the description I gave them.

I'm going to call them back tomorrow with our VIN number and get the exact weight.  I would like to know exactly how much it weighs for general purposes.

Hope this helps, again.....
