I don't have a commercial copy, but you can make your own sales agreement if you include the following information: Sale date, trailer name, model and ser#, date of manufacture, the price paid, seller's name, and the buyer's name. You also want to include two statements: 1) " This trailer is being sold in a, as is, where is condition, with no warrantees expressed or implied". 2) "I ( buyer's name; have him sign in this space ) have inspected this trailer and accept its present condition as expressed and agree that it's condition is as advertised." Do not make any statements about the condition of the trailer that you would not feel comfortable putting into writing.

Write out two copies of this agreement and both you and the buyer sign both copies. Let him have his choice of which one he wants. Make sure the buyer is the one who is signing the agreement. You both will then have original agreements, which are more valuable than copies.

If you are considering any financing or special considerations such as a trade, make sure each detail is listed. Write everything down. A private sale is automatically considered a "buyer's beware sale". However some buyers will try to plead ignorance of this fact and this type of sales agreement will eliminate any problems before they happen.

Do not forward the title or let him take possession until his check has cleared the bank. Do not let him use your plate to transport the trailer.
