Attach a sewer hose to the tank and put the other end of the hose into the sewer drain hole . Find the gate valve handle under the trailer that has the larger pipe going into it ( should be labled black tank) pull it out and let the tank drain out .i like to close the valve after it is done draining and refill the black tank up about 1/4 full and then redrain it .
After you drain the black tank drain any other tanks you have . If you not going to use the LQ for a more than a few days drain the fresh water tank to.

A hint to keep your black tank in tip top condition. Make sure the tank is full before dumping. If it's not full....this means...filling it with water.

Another hint...if you are putting solids and TP into the tank, make sure you also use lots of water when flushing. This will prevent "things" from sticking to the tank sides or worse....drying out. Gross.

A very good TP to use is Scott's. As it's one ply and dissolves quickly.

In our travel trailer, we would always dump right after a trip, while things were stired up.  This was the most efficent cleaning.  Then add clear water and rinse any residue.

One way to keep things from sticking in the tank, is to initially flush the toilet three or four times before using it. This only has to be done once at the beginning of your trip. By having treated water covering the bottom of the tank before hand, it's much easier to clean out later. And as stated, it is easier to completely flush when you just return from your trip, when things are still stirred up.

Info supplied so far should be of great help to the OP. I always make sure and open the valve on the stool before I open the Black water valve.

I have also put my remaining ice in the toilet and it moves around as you go down the road that helps everything from sticking. I then clean mine out again once I get home.

In addition to a couple of trays of ice cubes AFTER ours is emptied at the campground (where we stay have dump stations) I put around 1/2 bottle of Lemon Joy dishwashing liquid in before we leave for home.I don't put TP in the tank either.
I hope y'all aren't dumping it on a back road somewhere-where are you emptying it after you get home,in the yard? Surely not! http://www.horsetrailerworld.com/forum/emoticons/n8.gif

I dump in the manure pile at home. Quick, easy and no nasty hose to clean.

I have always had a dedicated dump station at home.I just ran a 4" line from the septic tank to where I wanted it,2-45's up and cap it.Put a hydrant in 3' away and pour 6" of concrete around it. Ive built 2 of them that way.

Another good option for dumping at home is the Sewer Solution.

I hired a septic tank cleaning company for doing this work for proper cleaning. There are many more who can do this for you at very less prices. how do septic systems fail, how does a septic system fail.

I like to put a cap full of Tide soap in with a gallon or so of water after I dump so when I am driving down the road it will slosh around and coat the sides of the tank and make them slick. Once I started doing this I have not had any problems

An electric dump valve, like on motor homes, will eliminate tailgaters.

I use a chemical for the septic tank which I forgot the name. That one was very effective and was able to remove the stinky smell from the tank. A friend of mine from a local drain cleaning company suggested to use that chemical wash.

I had to laugh the other day after reading this. Went to Wal-Mart that afternoon and what was right at my door when I got out of the truck???? A dirty diaper.
