We're making plans to look at this trailer at a dealership(about 8 hours away). I saw some forum posts that mention Exiss having different models (Sport and Event) - I'm not sure which one this is. Is every Exiss model classified as one or the other? Anything else I should consider? We camp roughly 6 times a year, and haven't traveled further than 6 hours from home for camping, but would like to expand our horizons :)

You could try doing a search on this forum. I have heard to avoid the Sport models. I, myself, have an Exiss XT 200 B&B. Great little trailer that I have had since it was new in 2001. But I will honestly say that I wouldn't recommend it for someone that does a lot of heavy duty hauling...which I don't.
Problems I have had: the drop down widow fell off. Contacted Exiss and it was a faulty hinge. They paid to replace both.
Water got inside both the LQ door and the dropdowns and rotted the wood on the inside. I rebuilt all of them myself, which was fairly easy but time consuming. So you need to be aware this could happen.

We have an 01 Exiss Event. It is one of the "best" trailers we've owned, and we plan on keeping it for many more years. We've had absolutely no mechanical or structural issues, and have enjoyed absolute reliability. It has several features that I wish were present on one of our other trailers, one of which is often considered to be among the "best" brands and far "superior" to the Exiss.
Like any other trailer, the care and maintenance afforded by the previous owners, will speak to its present condition and valuability. If you have photos of the trailer, you can tell if it's a Sport or Event by the lack of running boards on the Sport, and what looks like a bird mess decal on the top of the left rear door of the Events.

Gard, I love your description of the "Event" - made me giggle out loud. This trailer is considered 8' wide so has no running boards - but does have the "splotch" on the back door with "Exiss" printed in it. It also has a sticker "Maximum SX" in a couple places. In the video, the dealer says "raw aluminum metal siding tells me this is likely a member of the Excursion series, which is really like, the rough work horse type trailer, well built, made for heavy use". LOL sounds good - but of course I take everything a salesperson says with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the feedback, Linda. Searching the forums is how I came up with the fact that there were some complaints about some Exiss models being less than sturdy....But like you, we won't be doing heavy-duty hauling. It's good to know to watch for anywhere water may have leaked in the LQ - and why I'm not willing to buy a trailer without looking at it first.
All in all, if this one doesn't work out, it's not the last trailer in the world that is (or will be) for sale.... and the hunt has been kind of fun ;)

Look closely at the drop down windows and LQ door. If they were made by Creative (printed on the windows) check the fits closely. My old 2002 XT306MT trailer and others I know of had windows and doors that were not sealed properly resulting in the wood core rotting out and falling apart. I had to replace 2 drop downs and the LQ door...

I think I need to clarify or at least add to my post...In spite of the problem with the door and windows on my Exiss, it has been otherwise totally trouble free. As Gard said, no mechanical or structural (except for the dropdown hinge)issues at all. It pulls well, and does have some spiffy features...like the slant slam latch.

I have an 03 Exiss Event 3h w 8ft LQ. I haven't had any issues with the trailer itself. I have had to replace AC and fridge. This trailer has many miles put on it. Before I got this one I had a Exiss Maximum. It also was a good trailer. I had car come from his lane into the side of the trailer and watched it bounce down the side of the trailer. The only thing that was damaged was a hub cab. But the side of the car looked like a wash board road.... don't plan on buying another trailer. But if I did I would go back to Exiss.
