Ok,

So I'm looking for honest oppinions on Exiss Stock Trailers regarding their quality and value.

I'm looking for something to replace my current 20' Steel Stock trailer and I'd like to go to Alluminum.

I've been drawn to the Exiss becuase of 1. Price and 2. Full inside 7' width and 7' height.

I will be using the trailer primarily to haul show cattle as well as my horses so the 7' width is beneficial to keep the cattle from getting as dirty and pooping against the wall when they are tied cross wise.

I'm considering something in the 24' length with 2 divider gates.

I'd love to hear your oppinions please.

Any major aluminum trailer mfg. can build a trailer per your specs. I think you'll be surprised to learn that Exiss will not be the cheapest of trailers. Elite, 4Star, and Platinum are very competitive in the stock trailer market. Call some dealers and check it out. (Oklahoma may be your cheapest, as they are close to the factories???)

Yes I realise that any manufacturer can build to those specs but I'm most interested in finding something on a dealer lot or even a good late model used trailer.

I'm more interested peoples oppinions on the quality, durabillity and value of the Exiss brand stock trailers.

Thanks.

I wont give my true opinion of the Exiss we had, it was not a stock, so it may not apply to what you are looking at. All I will say, is I would recommend looking at some other brands too. Look them over well and compare.

Hope you find something you like, there are some deals out there :) Happy shopping

We also haul cattle and horses and we purchased an Exiss Event STC-16 BP this past fall.  We purchased it used and it was in very good condition.  We bought it mainly to haul my daughter's 4-H horses in and for trail riding, but have found it to be a great trailer for hauling cattle in too.  Our trailer has an open stock area in the back with no dividers.  It does have the dual swing/slide gate on the back with a tack room in the front.  It easily hauls 3 horses and all our equipment.  Our cattle load very easy into it since it seems to sit lower than our 16 ft Stoll stock trailer.  We also plan to use it for hauling show cattle and supplies for this fall.  It pulls like a dream and suits our needs very well.  If I had a larger cattle operation I would have probably purchase a GN with a tack room and cut gates, but at this time I wanted a smaller trailer since I rarely haul more than three animals at a time.  We have been very pleased with the quality of our trailer, but do think the Event line is the best way to go.  We also own a LQ trailer that is an Exiss Event.  I would highly recommend their Event stock line.  Very versatile and well made.

You are sure to get many conflicting ideas about Exiss trailers from the forum members, some of whom are advocates, and those who are opposed. Exiss has various models and construction details, which make the grouping of all Exiss products into one classification, an unrealistic proposition.

I happen to find the "Event" models as excellent products and I am very pleased with our ownership of one. It has been absolutely reliable, well built and a pleasure to own.

For serious hauling, I would not consider any of the "Sport" models. I don't believe that the stock trailer models share their construction. Exiss just released a new advertisement about a new line of stock trailers. I haven't seen anything about them on their web site yet, perhaps a dealer could be informative. Exiss are not the least expensive trailers, and you may not want to own any trailer that is.

Another brand which merits consideration is an Eby. Their stock trailers enjoy an excellent reputation.

Well said Gard!

I agree on the advice about the Sport model!

We saw a few awesome Eby's at the Topeka auction last year, very nice stock trailers they had on display.

In the South we also see many Featherlite stock trailers used by cattle owners.  Exiss Events seem to be the most popular in our region for aluminum stocks.  Gooseneck brand and Stoll are most popular for steel models.  Good luck in your search.

From what I saw on the website I don't think the sport model is offered in a 24' gooseneck stock trailer?

I could be mistaken though.

In any case I am looking at event models.

perhaps the new model trailers othere were mentioning were the STK 624 etc. (6.5' interior height)

and an 824 model which is 8' wide.

That is the one I would preffer but I imagine the extra cost is substantial.

If your into show cattle; here in the Midwest, the overwhelmingly trailers used for show cattle and heavy use hauling are EBY and ELITE.  They are both ruggeldly built trailers.  EBY uses the same gates in their gooseneck trailers that they use in their semi livestock trailers.  They are very heavy duty, and they use cast aluminum corners in the rear gate area.  No weld cracks.

ELITE probably builds as rugged a trailer as the EBY; but they also use a lot of stainless, polished aluminum, and painted top and bottom rails on their trailers. Truly a show cattle trailer.  They also do some great show pig and lamb trailers, complete with misting systems for hot weather hauling.

Another very well built trailer that uses 2" square wall posts and beast of a neck structure is SUNDOWNER SUPER STOCKS.  This product is also made for the "long haul".

Look around, and don't let price be #1 when buying an aluminum stock trailer.  Rear end construction, wall post size, top rails, neck structure and gate and hinges play and important part in this type of trailer.

This afternoon's mail brought the latest issue of "The Trail Rider". Inside the front cover is an advertisement of the new Exiss trailers of which I previously related. They are called the CXF series. Other than this add, I have no personal knowledge of this model. Exiss is offering rebates through the end of March.

The exiss stock trailer was higher off the ground to load into. So we bought a Wilson.

Tool,  Please let me see if I can throw you an opinion. As a dealer for Exiss, Kiefer Built, and Elite, all three make a nice trailer and can hit your specs well. The Event STK that you asked about is regarded as a well built trailer. Every brand that folks have mentioned here have their particular strong construction points and seem strong in certain geographic regions. The  But your question asked about the Event, and as a rule our Event customers are pleased with their product, and we have some who have had them for several years. Just my .02$ for what they are worth.

Thanksthat's good to know.

Out of those three than, which would you pick?

Not considering price, just line those three trailers side by side spec'd as I mentioned.

Tool, In fairness to folks, you can reach me at Richard@Selecttrailer.com for my personal opinion.  I would place a lot of weight on which dealer I could get along with better and was more convenient. You'll need service and parts someday- who is convenient and likely to be there next year? And given the current state of the economy, look at longevity. All 3 of these mfg. are likely to be around next year, but not everyone will. A warranty is worthless without a manufacturer to honor it. Just my .02

Tool....if you're interested, I know someone who has a one year old Eby 24' x 7' x 7' for sale (not us).  PM me if you'd like more information.  This trailer is like new.

Was very impressed with folks in the warranty department at exiss.  We had a blow out on our lq on our first trip due to chinese tires, and they sent me replacements very fast for all tires on ground and re-imbursed me for the spare.  If you are going to be running close to max wt be very picky of the tires.

I think I've ruled out the used 2006 Exiss 24' that I looked at the other day. I think there must be a pile of miles on that trailer by the look of it.

I did find a new 2008 24' Exiss at a fairly attractive price.

I looked at a 2009 Sundowner superstock yesterday and loved it.

Decisions decisions.....

Tool - I just looked on the Exiss website at the Exiss Event, and searched throughout the models, its a great website. Exiss does not list a Sport stock trailer anymore, I believe it is discontinued. On their website they have posted a rebate for stock trailers for $1,750 at dealers lots. After searching around this rebate makes them the lowest priced best value trailer out there. I also read a couple of points and have talked to a dealer I trust regarding Exiss. The facts are that Exiss has bolt -through hinges on their rear doors, almost all of the competitors do not. The bolt through hinge is a better hinge than the weld on ones, and it is easy to repair in the field if need be. They also have an extruded floor which has a no slip floor for cattle, this floor does not sag between cross members and therfore will last a long time. I looked underneath at how the floor was attached and i looked at several competitiors, it is the best attached and built floor i have ever seen! It comes standard 7x7, but you can get a 6'6"x7 wide for about 500 less if you want, the dealer i visited didn't have one in stock. Most of the competitors i looked at are 6'6"x6'9" wide standard, so you get more trailer for less money with the Exiss. The other feature on the Exiss is that the fenders are very heavy duty, you can walk on them, try doing that with an elite, it has horse fenders on it! All said and done I am going to buy an Exiss as I trust my dealer and its the best value for the money out there today from what I have seen. I suggest you go to your Exiss dealer and look at the trailer and then look at the items I mentioned you will be convinced as i was.
