We are upgrading to a bigger living quarter trailer. It has a 15 ft short wall and we are having the living quarters custom done, can't decide if we want a stove top in the trailer. My opinion is that we have a grill most times and don't really want to smell up the living quarters cooking inside with the stove top. I'm sure for resale its a good idea to have a stove top. My question is how many people use their stove tops? We have never had one in our old trailer and got by fine but maybe we didn't know what we were missing.

I use it to heat water for coffee. If I have to cook, I carry a Coleman stove for outside. I would not buy a trailer without a stove . And I don't like a recessed stove .

I love my cooktop and wouldn't buy a LQ trailer without. I cook on it, heat hot water for coffee, and it heats up the trailer real nice on cold mornings. I don't have a furnance, and it it's too early to run the generator, I rely upon the cooktop. I prefer to use it to cook on, so I don't have to bring a separate grill.

We will probably grill out at night but we usually cook breakfast on the cook top in the trailer. We run the vent hood and so far it hasn't smelled up the trailer.

We do the same thing. Breakfast (eggs, potatoes and meat) on the stovetop. Most other cooking outside on the grill or over the fire. Although, it's kind of difficult to make Kraft mac and cheese on a grill or fire.

My chili beans fall into the fire too! Must have a cook top inside if I am going to camp near the snow line, or need to make some precooked food from home. I do like my Black Iron dutch oven for those peach/apple cobblers, and WOW, the stewed beef is famously good!

Have had 2 LQs and didn't use either one. Just priced a new custom LQ and was going to order without the stove top due to that fact. LQ company said that when we get ready to trade out this new trailer, bring it by and they can put in a cook stove plumb easy. That would get around any resale issue. We just love the extra counter space when stove top is covered.

I've seen trailers with the cooktop recessed so the countertop is all one level when closed. I wish mine was that way but the cover we have works well.

Most of our camping involves shore electrical power, and our microwave is often used for reheating, light cooking and the like. When we are without power, the stovetop is used instead. It's very handy to have, and as stated, can be installed recessed, with a cover that allows the full counter space to be utilised.
When shopping for a trailer, we prefer one with a counter top burner.

I have one and wish it wasn't there. I acturally looked how to take it out last week. I have a microwave and if it wasn't in there and Iwanted one, I would just buy a plug in burner type hot plate.

We don't have a cooktop but use an electric skillet to cook our breakfast. The vent fan works super good and we don't have a problem with the smells in the trailer. We also have the microwave/convention oven that we use a lot. We do grill a lot out side and have a Coleman two burner cooktop, that we have not used yet.

I wouldn't buy a living quarter with out one either. We use ours to make coffee in the morning and heat other stuff up when camping. It takes the chill off those cold mornings too! We also special ordered a oven with ours. It is handy to bake biscuts or re-heat items. And when the power is out for several days, your fully furnished living quarters comes in real handy!

When it is COLD in the morning, it is nice to have a cooktop. The one thing I won't cook inside is bacon, even in a taller pan. It smells up the trailer too much. We do most cooking outside aside from this.

You can cook inside on a cook top when weather outside is poor, and you do not have electricity or want to fire up a generator. We use ours a lot. I had a cabover camper with oven, and when we went to first LQ I really missed it. So, this LQ has oven too. Love to make biscuits or cinnamon rolls once and awhile. Funny how other campers want to park next to me.

I have a 2 burner cooktop. I use it all the time. The next trailer I have will have a full range w/oven. I like having that option, even if I were to use it very little right now, in the future I plan on camping more, when we're not at horse shows. Matter of fact, while I'm looking now, I won't even consider a trailer that is all electric, or doesn't have the range w/oven.

Is it hard to install a stove top in an existing trailer? I was thinking about putting one above my small fridge. Have to run a gas line and a perhaps a 12V wire for spark? I sure would hate to cut the hole then find out it didn't fit. LoL

Most don't have sparkers, but you will use 12V for the vent hood that needs to go over it. With the fridge there, gas line will be pretty straightforward (copper tubing).

Lucky for me there is already a vent above the space that I would like to put the stove top. It attached/part-of the convention/microwave oven. I have to replace the fan motor on my A/C (motor on order) and repair a leak in my gray water tank, then I'll look into taking on the stove top. I may have a second career as an RV repair lady. LoL. I don't like to mess with the gas lines, so it will depend on if I can get my husband to run the gas line for me.
