I am looking for some feedback on the condition of the trails at Deam Lake. I was there a few years ago and there was a lot of gravel put down on several of the trails. I am hoping that the gravel is sufficiently pulverized so that it won't be so rough on my horse's hooves. Thanks in advance!

I was there today. Rock is not bad. Some trails are widened due to recent logging. Lake trail near day ride park still has some big rock, but riders have made soft area on the outside. Mountain grove loop is reopened after tornado 2013. Unfortunately the storm took out the trees. Bring fly spray!

Oh thank you so much for the information. I did not know about the tornado; wow! I may end up not going now because my a.c. isn't working and don't know if I can take the heat!! Thanks again!

The campground has shade. Only the Mountain Grove Trail was taken out by the Tornado. It's actually a beautiful ride , about 2 hr ride from camp but you can see forever on top of that ridge.

Thanks again! I have two friends down there right now! I cancelled because my AC went out on my trailer and my trail/camping buddy couldn't go this time : (Have you been to O'Bannon woods; if so, what did you think of the camp facilities and trails there?

Love O'Bannon!  Very nice campground and trails.  As for non-horse activities, the nature center and antique hay press are pretty interesting.  But the pool is usually overcrowded.  If any of your group likes to go swimming, I'd stick with Deam Lake.
