I have a great little 2 horse trailer, an 03 4-Star and the decision has been made to move up to a 3 horse trailer. I had a 1/2 ton short box truck to pull the 2 horse and have now moved up to a Chevy 2500 HD long box as the 1/2 ton was at the top of it's towing rating with the smaller trailer. Naturally the new truck sits higher, but the rails ride dangerously close to the trailer, so much so that I am afraid to go over a bump. So my question for you is, as I shop for another trailer are some brands going to be manufactured to sit higher as a standard? I have a friend who has a similar year Featherlite that is taller than my trailer by at least 6" and sits probably one foot above her 3/4 ton trucks bed rails. I suppose her trailer may have been blocked up, but I know it could only be blocked 2-3". ThanksJoan

Different manufacturers have different ways of attaching their axles; so that a given trailer can sit at different heights. I would make sure that you choose a trailer with 16" tires; and you can have axles blocked on most any brand of trailer need be. I don't think you should have to have that done, as here at our dealership we seldom have those issues, unless the truck itself either has over sized tires, or has been lifted.

how much space do you have when you measure from the bed top to the trailer?? we pull a big LQ with a dodge dually and have less than 4" and yes it looks close but we have never had an issue but I look twice before I go some places, normal road conditions are never a problem but going off road could.
