Our local parts supplier and dealership recommended using a steamer to remover horse trailer stickers. I did not have a steamer, but successfully used a wet rag and a steam iron instead.
Working on a small area of the sticker at a time (I was replacing the large nose sticker on our LQ), I placed the wet rag over the sticker and used the steam iron to heat and steam that area. This softened the glue of the old, weathered sticker and allowed it to be pulled off / scrapped off. I used a plastic scraper (believe it was originally a cheap drywall mud spreader) to carefully remove excess sticker / glue without scratching the stainless steel nose of the trailer.
I then used some glue solvent (from Home Depot) to remove all traces of the old glue, cleaned the area up with some glass cleaner and applied the new decal.
