So I am still having problems getting watwr past the hot water heater I can open the valve put side and water flows great and the pump runs perfect. I think my water pump is on the outs and it's not making enough pressure to suck watwr past the backflow preventer, and yes I have the arrow right there's only one way to screw it on the tank. It does intermittently push water past and comes out the faucets.

Make sure that the backflow device is clean and has no corrosion on the inside. It doesn't take much to cause a malfunction. You could also replace it with a open/closed valve that you would turn when you go to bypass

I ordered a new pump got the shurflo revolution for 50 bucks with my discounts and a camco three way valve,going to just replace the pump never had liked the pressure, and just going to get rid of the backflow preventer turning one .ore valve isn't a big deal.
