Austin, Tx to North Rim Grand Canyon one way 1540 miles. Average mileage 10 mpg, pulling about 16,000 lbs at highway speeds of 77 mph and 83 mph. 2015 Chevrolet diesel 3500 single cab, single rear wheel. I think that pretty good diesel mileage considering the weight and pulling speed.

If you ever have a chance to do the XP endurance ride, they offer 25, 30, and 50 miles rides. They feed you at lunch. That was my second trip to the Grand Canyon for this ride. I highly recommend. Your about fourteen miles outside the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park. You can go to the park after your morning ride take a hot shower for six quarters for six minutes. Hang out at the north rim and have a coffee or beer. Elevation is 8800'. 75 degrees during the day and 55 at night.

Anyone else have any real stats from their trip they would like to share. I'd be interested. Thank you,

I think this is best suited for the Camp and Trail forum just below this one on the main forums page. Good luck getting some answers.

When your trailer tires fail at those speeds...you could be facing a real disaster...:(

Ditto Paul. Most ST tires are rated for 65 MPH and are notorious for blow outs above that speed. I can't help but wonder what the braking distance of a pick up truck, itself weighing over three tons and pulling a 16#k trailer, is at 83 MPH.
