Hi,Just some advice please on getting an air conditioner installed on my trailer, this will be a new install. I have a 2003 4 Star trailer with a roof vent, am I correct that my trailer came from the factory with the framing it needs to support an air conditioner? It has a small living area and I plan to order a Dometic 13500 BTU Duo Therm Brisk 2 RV Air Conditioner from RV Parts Country. The ad says it is complete, does this mean the lower unit is with it and I will not need to purchase anything else?I have gotten a shop rate from the local RV guy and a trailer repair guy, do you have any opinions on how may hours it should take to mount the air conditioner? It's already wired.Thanks Joan

I do not think it comes with interior shroud. You should ask the seller that specific question. I think it should be able to be installed in 2-3 hours. Most shops have done this before and will give you a pretty good estimate, stay cool

Do not assume anything. Even if it's already wired. Call 4 star and ask them to describe the framing or for a photo to confirm the proper framing to support an A/C unit. If the roof flexes with the weight of the a/c, you'll have leaks. So too for the lower unit. You're looking for an un-ducted lower unit to go with the piece on the roof. Call the vendor and get the name of whom ever confirms the lower unit is included.

Another method to add an A/C unit to a trailer is under the neck, into the jack stand wall. Paying for a professional install on either style unit is worth the money IMHO. Good luck!

I had an a/c unit installed on my 2003 Sundowner about 2010. I looked at the units online and found that they did not come with all parts included. I took it to my local rv dealer and actually got a better deal with them ordering the unit due to reduced shipping costs. My trailer was finished inside but not wired and they just ran a nice looking plastic sleeve up the wall and across the ceiling to the unit to provide power and it didn't look out of place at all. I would recommend letting your rv guy take a look at your set up and letting him order everything you need so you don't come up needing something or have two pieces that don't fit together.
