Looking for a new horse trailer, currently have a midtack but don't want to do that again in the interest of long LQ and more horses. Looking for a 4 horse trailer and will be hauling two barrels horse and two pleasure horses with 2 or 3 riders. That means 2 show saddles, 2 training saddles, and 2 barrels saddles...possible 3. Obviously most 4 horse trailers have four saddle racks, what do we do with the others? I have a few thoughts, possibly stack them in the tack room. The other thought was to put the training saddles in the manger although that would probably be a struggle. Thought about keeping the show saddles in the LQ and when we get to the show put them on a folding saddle rack in the horse area or if we have stall put them in a tack room.Any thoughts?

I wouldn't want to have to put show saddles in a tack stall, theft is on the rise! You can have extra saddle racks put in the rear tack but I'm not sure where all the horse stuff is going if you don't have a tack room. You'll need lots of buckets, hay, feed and such...you could just get a five horse and use the first slant stall as a tack/storage space.

Reverse or side load would give u the entire full width back end.

we have a full width rear tack on our reverse slant load and it is very spacious. you could customize one to hold all your saddles.

I hang a saddle underneath a saddle rack, with a lead rope. This way I can slide out the saddle above or below without having to stack and unstack. The rope runs horizontally the length of the saddle and snaps to the rack above it. There is also the old way of storing saddles by hanging them from a loop that goes thru the gullet and up around the horn. I worked for a guy who stored all his saddles that way on a motorized rack that looked like it belonged in a dry cleaners. Hanging saddles took up less floor space.
