I recently purchased a pristine 2003 Merhow Equistar that has a lot of accessories included with it. This piece of wood was tucked in with the 2 extra balls, wheel chock, tire changing ramp and various other things. Almost threw it out but it has a carving on the end and letters wood burned into it. The guy who owned the trailer (deceased) kept it spotless with everything spotless and ready to go and his wife has no idea what it is.It is 2" x 2" and is 18-1/4" long. Any ideas?

Seems random. Could just be a sacrificial piece for emergencies. I like to place a piece of wood between metal/metal to keep from scaring the paint, like when using a jack for tire changing. My grandfather was a very well respected woodworker and he had little scraps of wood for every random task you could imagine...he maintained everything so well we moved the woodshop down to Texas and the equipment is flawless.

That looks like a factory stamp that was related to some palletized item...so as huntseat said, it is probably just a convenient tool...maybe to help "walk a spare tire off the axle and then its replacement back on...:)
