Would like to know from you people that pack into the wilderness what has been the strangest sound or sounds you have ever heard including sightings of something you did not know exactly what it was or did not want to report it. I know I'm going to get hammered on this one, LOL, but thats ok. If you don't want to put your info out to the public just e-mail me at
flymecessna180bs@yahoo.com Almost forgot, what state and what area were you in. Thanks

There are LOTS of reports of bigfoot in the mountians near here.  And strange screaming sounds.  I've never been up in those areas so I can't give you first hand info.  I did a search of bigfoot sightings and there is one that has "testimonials" about where and when.

Have you done the fly in camping thing?  Just curious as there is a fly in camp ground near here, and that is new to me.  Don't guess your horse would fit in the Cessna tho.......

Rose, I actually had a guy ask me if I took my horses in my plane and he was serious, I told him I did and I just cut thier legs off until I got to ware I was going and then put them back on. I laughed so hard I almost wet my self. He didn't think it was funny, o well.

Thiers alot of places to fly into the back country in Idaho. Once you been to some of the strips you always want to go back. As long as my health is good I will always return.

A cougar scream has to be one of eerriest sounds in the dark.

I've never been threatened by one, But they do occassionally follow to check you out and see what you are.

I've seen their tracks in the snow on top of my tracks, where they were following right behind me in fresh snow.

I see their tracks in the sand around camp when we pack in.

And occassionally we will run one up a tree

The strangest sound I ever heard was- no sound. It was a UFO and in my back pasture, not in the wilderness. Yes, I reported it and was asked "You saw what?" as they giggled and then the questions, what have you been smoking, dropping, drinking, etc. However a deputy sheriff left the roadway that morning chasing the UFO and damaged the patrol car. The county made him pay to have the vehicle repaired at his own expense. I still have people roll their eyes and snicker when I relate the incident. But I know for sure it wasn't a helicopter or airplane or airship due to all the maneuvers it was making in complete silence!

When I was in my late teens I was camping with a girlfriend at the stable where we kept our horses in Santa Barbara, CA. We went for a night ride and suddenly saw this HUGE shape gliding over the pasture. Very little sound, just a whooshing. No, we weren't drinking, or imbibing in any other mind altering substance. Suddenly various lights started to glow from the 'ship'. Hoo boy! We were scared then! But then the lights started to spell something. I can't remember what it was, but something like "Drink Coca Cola". It was the Goodyear Blimp...For about a minute though, I was a believer in UFO's.

On another camping trip I was awakened by what sounded like frightened screaming. It wasn't a cougar...I know what they sound like. At first we thought it was a friend having a bad nightmare. Several of us got out of our tents to check it out, but couldn't see or hear anything after the initial yells. The next day I found out that raccoons make all sorts of weird sounds and that was probably what it was... Plus nobody admitted to having a nightmare. We'll never know for sure though. Doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo!...sung to the tune of The Twilight Zone.

Well now, a friend belongs to the BFRO, bigfoot research org. and I went with the group once on a research campout in the Cascade Mountains here in Washington. I was totally freaked out by what I heard the second night; screams that were so powerful, there is no way they could have been human. The power behind those distant screams was shocking and echoed across the mountains. The entire forest was still, not one sound early that morning, except the screams that seemed were back and forth, a few miles apart. It sounded like one was larger and older and one smaller, less powerful. The hair on my arms and the back of my neck stood straight up. I also saw footprints that were very impressive, and came across them where nobody else was or would have been... the group was looking at other evidence, and I was poking around, lifting bushes to see the trail a little better and there was a huge footprint under a bush that could not possibly have been "planted". I followed it and found a few more. I then got really scared and felt like I was being watched, kind of unnerving. No joke, it was so scarey I will not go out with them again, or at least not for a while. I was a semi-believer until that trip. Now I know something is out there that most people will never see or hear, or believe in. I don't care, I know what I saw and heard! Nobody has to convince me now.

That is actually where I was reading about it after someone else told me they found foot prints while camping.

The weekend my filly coliced one of my dogs scared a group of campers.  My girls didn't close the bottom zipper on their tent door and the dog that was sleeping with them got out.  They woke up and woke me up calling for her.  She came right to us so we went back to sleep.  She is a 150lb "fawn" English Mastiff (HUGE feet).  The other group of campers left when the sun was up and the park ranger came out and told us to be carefull becasue of a cougar sighting overnight.  I asked where and he said over at the next site and I went with him to look at the tracks.  They were my dogs tracks and led right from/to our tents.  The park ranger laughed and said to make sure the tent was zipped all the way up next time.  I figured I'd get a ticket or something but he was just happy he didn't have to call out the hunters.

My beagle is named Molly, too!

She has been baying a LOT in the past few days with all the morons setting off fireworks in the neighborhood..scares her silly.  Had to give her a Benadryl the last few nights to get some sleep myself.

I have never seen anything weird yet .......but I do believe. I have a friend that is totally an honest guy and would not make a story up such as this: He and his father were somewhere in Oregon out fishing. They were walking down the trail to the next fishing site when "Bigfoot" walked across their path. They both dropped the fishing poles, EVERYTHING and ran like hell. No , they did not go back for their stuff later either!!
