I have a question that many people don't like to talk about.....toilet tissue.

What kind of toilet tissue do you all use in your living quarters? Do you use the expensive "camper/rv" toilet tissue or simply "septic safe" tissue? And why?

We empty our waste tanks from the trailer into totes which are then dumped into our septic at home.

We use the same as we use in the house, no problems.

We use good TP, but put it in a trash receptacle rather than the holding tank.. just trying to hold down on the sludge factor.

We also use regular TP and sometimes when leaving camp I pour any left over ice from ice chest in the toilet. My thinking here is that the ice may help break up anything partly solid in the tank on the return trip and melt on the way home.

Cajunmuleman, I've been given that ice recommendation previously as well. Supposed to help break up solids and also help eliminate anything that might be stuck to or dried on sensors, pipes, etc.

Never had an issue after MANY years. Also I occasionally stick a water hose in the outlet several feet and spray water on high in order to make sure the tank is clean.

We use the RV tp. Also, if you put in 'water softener' powder, the kind you get at Wally in the detergent aisle, add about a cup to your tank before you use it, add water or ice as others have suggested, the agitation of driving will loosen the materials and debris so when you go to dump, it's all loosened up.

We use regular toilet paper and put it a garbage can.  I bought a wand at Wal-Mart, I think, to put on a hose to wash the sides of your tank.  It has holes on the side so it sprays water on the sides to knock everything off.  It has worked very well for us.  Also use the treatment chemicals.
