I have an unusual problem that I'm having a hard time finding out what happened and how to correct it. I purchased a 2002 Silver Star trailer in very good condition, the floor had very few spots of corrosion, no holes to patch. We acid washed the floor, then applied 2 coats of Duplicolor. I wash the trailer after every use, but did not pull the mats until several months after applying the Duplicolor. I've attached photos, but it looks like a lot of corrosive spots coming thru the Duplicolor finish! When I called Duplicolor company, they suggested scrubbing with Simple Green, and then perhaps another coat of Duplicolor. Which sounds like covering the problem! The Duplicolor is adhering very well to the floor in all areas except on spot at the rear where it looks as if a hind hoof scraped it off. When I scratch at the "spots" it does not wipe clean, nor is the Duplicolor able to scratch off. Does anyone know what this is? Do I need to take it off? If so, how?

The Duplicolor is adhering well, it will not scrape unless I use a screwdriver. I hoped someone would know something before I tried to scrape a section. I'll try the vinegar this weekend.
I don't mind applying another coat of Duplicolor, but don't want to cover up damage.

Try applying some muriatic acid to a small area, and strongly agitate it as you originally did on the aluminum. Flush generously with water after the reaction has settled. Were the mats dry after they were washed and reinstalled? Did any of this material transfer to the underside of the mats? It appears that the Duplicolor is mechanically protecting the flooring, but the wetness trapped between the mats and Duplicolor, are producing some kind of reaction or oxidation. Was the original acid washing completely flushed and dried before the Duplicolor was installed? This IS an unusual outcome.
