I want to make the switch to riding in a trail saddle that is appropriate for the job. I am currently riding in Dale Martin cutting and ranch cutting saddles, because that is what we did previously and we have a lot if money in them. They are very comfortable, but weigh 40+ lbs. with both cinches on them. Plus I am not getting any younger! We ride anywhere from 2 to 8 hours. I want something that will be comfortable to sit in, plus make my horse just as comfortable. Any recommendations or suggestions???

I agree with Gard on the Tucker.... we have a couple of Tuckers and I have several Aussie custom saddles and one great endurance saddle that I really like. All are fairly lightweight. The aussies give you a close contact with a very secure seat with the kneerolls. The endurance saddle has a very high pommel that easily accomodates a bag for odds n ends... and I hook on a water bottle.

That's like asking which is better, Dodge or Ford. The best trail saddle is whatever fits your horse and you. I'm partial to DeSoto saddles. I rode endurance for years and it's a very comfy, balanced saddle. Even tho they're custom made for a specific horse they usually will fit a variety. One of DeSoto's is at least 25 yrs old and it's still holding up fine.

I like my abetta saddle, I hate cleaning leather so works for me. If I were to buy a different abettaa I would buy one with more cushion in the seat, but still not bad with the regular seat.my wife needs a new saddle for her horse so I think I may have her talked into trying one of the Pandora Performance Saddles... they have a demo program so not a lot to loose, doesn't look comfortable but in the few reviews i have found it's been mostly endurance riders so to me that says there must be some level of comfort there.

I ride in Circle Y's Julie Goodnight flex tree trail saddle which I love- my husband recently got Tucker's brand new Horizon trail saddle and it is just gorgeous.
