I found a neat light that will help you monitor your electric fence from your house or vehicle.It clips on the fence and only flashes when the fence isn't working,so you won't eventually ignore it like the usual fence lights.The manufacturers claim the red LED can be seen up to a mile away and I don't doubt it.It's called Fence Alert and is made by Fi-Shock and Speedrite,they can be found at Southern States and TSC.

It's a good product, but you have to discipline your self to turn the fence charger off once a month to check the monitor and make sure it's working properly. Otherwise, you won't know if the fence charger and the monitor have failed at the same time from a lightning strike while you weren't home. Happy trails.

Is there something that protects against lightning stirkes? I have ost three boxes to lightning. Thank god TSC is nice and let me exchange the boxes, My babies like the electricity sohad to get a five mile box for about three acres! Talk about lack of feeling, they couldn't even feel the shock from the smaller boxes.

Talk about lighting... I lost several chargers from lighting as well, blew them right off the wall.. But about 9 years ago I went to a solar charger and haven't had a problem since.

I doubt it, kinda hard to do at the sort of prices these things sell for.
I'm a bit surprised that TSC exchanged them and didn't say, "lightening strike last week, Aye ?".

devon91, let me check my products drawer and see if one of my suppliers has a lightning arrester available at a reasonable price. I think I remember seeing one in a catalog at some point in the past. If I'm right, it's sort of like a surge protector built into a power strip. It works like an inline fuse on the hot wire before it gets to the charger. Happy trails.

I found a "Lightning Choke & Diverter" that is designed to help lessen the amount of power that a lightning strike can produce and send surging though your charger. If you are in an area prone to lightning strikes, I would recommend this unit. If you need more info, please PM me and I will pass along contact information to contact the supplier. Happy trails.
