Am thinking of switching from 15" Load Range D tires to 16" Load Range E tires. Have found some good package prices (tires/wheels) from Taskmaster. Anyone run these tires on their trailer? I only put about 1500 to 2000 miles a year on the trailer (18' 3H Slant goose)...mostly weekend trips of 200 to 250 miles. These tires/wheels look like a good value...but you never know. If you have any expereince with this brand of tires, I sure would appreciate your input.

Here is their website:

I've had 2 equipment trailers in the past with those tires on them. One was custom built and the axles were purchased with those tires already on the axles and the other was a factory built trailer. I remember the tires had very hard rubber compounds and wore like iron. They were pretty noisey until they warmed up too. Othere than that, I think they still had tread on them when I replaced them because they had so much dry rot and wouldn't pass DOT. Happy trails.

Be sure to match your current 15" lug/bolt pattern and spacing with the new 16" wheel/tire combo.  I found out the hard way that not all 5 bolt wheels have the same spacing.

What do you desire to gain by changing to a 16" load range E tire over what you currently have?  Are the axles rated for the extra capacity of the bigger tires? How much will it affect the trailer height at the back (step up for the horse or angle of the ramp)?

Thanks guys for the info. I've checked the bolt pattern on the wheels...current wheels are 6 bolt, 15" wheels (6 on 5.5 pattern) and the new 16" wheels are also 6 on 5.5 pattern. Both wheels have hub openings of 4.28", so they'll be a good fit. Mainly going to the 16" tires because I like the better choices in tires, and because I want the extra 1 inch height to help me get trailer a bit more level with my high-bed Dodge....running a little higher in front right now than I like. Axles are 5200 lb, so an E range tire would work fine...although I can probably get by with D range, too. I just like extra strength/stiffness of E range tires...never had one blow out yet...but have had D and Cs blow out. Thanks for the help...I sure appreciate it.
