Anybody ever add a ramp to a step-up trailer? I would like a ramp on my trailer, but am not quite sure how to go about doing that. My steel 3-horse gooseneck trailer has one big back door, and I'm not sure how the ramp would close (over the big door)? I saw an ad for a bolt on ramp for $150 and it looked brand new. The seller said it'd take about 1-2 hours to bolt on, but I am sure that is if you had all the right tools and everything fit perfectly, right?

IMHO I would go to a welding/machine/fabrication shop and try to get more than one estimate. If you take pictures of a trailer that has what you want with you, it will make their estimating job a lot easier.  Happy trails.

I'd go to my local welder and get some estimates.  Not only does the ramp need (must) be firmly attached with no wiggle room but it should be free of all other obstructions which means it will need to be offset from your original door.  It will also need to have special latches that hold it to the trailer but don't pull it too tight and won't cause it to wear away on the trailer parts/paint.

It can't shut flush with the frame because then it will pinch your door.  Or it won't close over your door and then you are truly stuck!  Your welder will know and understand these issues prior to jumping in feet first!
