I am interested in going to this ride called the 9-Day Ride in the Shawnee National Forest area of Illinois. Anyone have some thoughts about this ride. I appreciate any info.

I went down to visit friends once that was enough for me. It was over 100 and so dusty.Packed in like sardines. There isn't a shower or water. They have a truck come around to give you water. And you go to a lake to bath. You need to check to see if you could even get a site. They have about 3 or more famileis to one campsite. I guess it all depends on what you like. It's just not for me when you can go to other camp sites to ride the same area.

I am trying to get a phone number of the president of the 9-day for you, this way you can get the info first hand, it is like others have wrote you it isn't a good time of the year for the weather it is always so hot and there are horses killed every year due to the heat. There is so many people there but as one said if you like thousands of horses and people that is your kind of place. It is riding of the same trail area for nine days it isn't going any distance in one direction or going for days on the river to river trail. I go every year just to look around at the little tack shops set up but I don't stay and ride I ride there in the fall and spring alone.
From July on until fall the bee's are so bad in Shawnee it isn't worth it for some if you do go and meet riders one thing to ask is have you been into any bee's and where the bee's are.
