This is our first time heading down to CCTR, I know I have asked about lots and stuff, was wondering what the weather is like in May, type of stuff I should bring, I already have the horse stuff packed and ready to go!  I get to pick up my new-to-me horsetrailer on Tuesday..yayyy!!  I got my neg. coggins and health certificates done on the horses.   What brand of fly spray do you suggest?

Thank you in advance for the help for this CCTR newbie!!  I am getting so excited!!!

When we go there for the 4th of July weekend, we don't take a whole lot of stuff. Of course you said you have all of your horse stuff, hay and feed, buckets, etc. We just take our coolers, saddlebags, lawn chairs, rain gear, and clothes. Maybe a few bags of snacks, as all the meals are provided.
We usually take the truck and park near stage on the day of the big concert, so we can sit in the back in lawn chairs during the show. If you have a GPS unit, you may want to take it as well.
Other than that, RIDE, RIDE, RIDE!!!!!!!! and of course, have a blast!!!

You might consider getting "BUZZ-OFF" insect repellent for the horses... your vet can prescribe or supply it. It is the best tick/fly/other repellent you can get, it is applied from the forelock to the withers... then from the rear (aft the saddle) to the tail dock, then down the rear onto the lower legs above the coronet band.... you might want to put it on your boots and cap if you wear one... if you do not find buzz-off, try another spray or mix permethrin 3-7% solution in your own sprayer and do not get it under saddle or pad area...(could cause irritation... I ALWAYS spray my jeans/cap/shirt so I am not tick infested when I get back to camp... then, if I DO find any... I shampoo and bath in ADAM's flea&tick shampoo for dogs.... I'm not dead yet. Ticks are really bad so far this year...some are only as big as "freckles" too...

I 2nd the motion on the ticks this year!

Pack you wallet, diesel is $2.89 and rising faster than the river.... speaking of the river, pack your swimming suit. You'll want to enjoy the river for sure. If you like to canoe your right in the middle of the Ozark National Scenic Waterway. Great places like Round Spring, Alley Springs & Akers Ferry near by.

Amen! that water is out of this world after a long hot ride... don't worry about how good or bad you look in a suit or cut-offs... just get on in there!

You may need another health cert. They are only good for 30 days.

Take your beach shoes, too.

Due to a family emergency we were unable to go (lost our deposit, but got to spend time with my father it was worth it).  Found out my father has terminal cancer.  Maybe next year I will make it down there.   I want to thank everyone for the good advice and all the information.  I am looking forward to going down there, but not going to happen this year.

Everyone have safe trips this summer.  Will be thinking of you as you go trailriding!  Happy Trails everyone!

If you had called hem you could have rolled it over to another ride. You can do that one time. Great place to go I have been going every Oct. for 24 yrs. and the water is a little cold in Oct
