Please give some input on place?Our clubs going there next month.We have res. at 4J Big Piney an get home day before they leave so dont know but wanta go too.Is that too much traveling on 4 y.o. horse?Probaly too much on me really(hate sitting in truck that long) except NO cooking for week at 4J YAAAAA.......THANKS for input & advice.

There is a hitch rail at each site. Primative has water around every few sites and pit toilets. Some of those sites have shade and some are out in the sun. Electric sites have electric boxes at each site plus water every few sites. Pit toilets around in camp with a shower house in the middle of camp. Trails range from easy to moderate. Some would call them rough but there are other places in Indiana that are rougher. Note, that the trail to the firetower climbs to the 2nd highest point in Indiana. Nice ride though if you take your time on young horse. There are wide fire trail type trails and single file "deer path" trails. Ask for map at the gate house, it is really a good one. The Indiana Trail Riders helped put it together. Anything else you need to know? Don't know what kind of info you were looking for.

I think I will re-think going to Brown County....this past weekend our friends went to Brown County, when it was in the 90's and so humid, they made everyone shut down their generators at 11:00 p.m. I understand quiet hours and all, but when you pay the money for a super quiet generator, you really expect to be able to use it. I can run ours and walk to someone elses trailer and not even hear ours running. Everytime we go, it is something else with that park. I know they have alot of sites and need to control things, but come on....if you don't have a loud generator, what is wrong with running it to stay cool....! If they did not charge $31 a nite for electric, I would stay in electric.....all the time! Just frustrating....

Did price go up????I thought was $24. at ele????I seen that in rules too.Well never go to Gov.dodge in Wis NO generators at all allowed to equine camp an no ele either.But that was 2 or 3 years ago.Only camp/ park will never go to ever again.

Ok, the whole generator thing got me when I read that about Brown County. So being the info hound I am, I looked up the DNR's Property useage rules, and came across article 8, Public use of Natural and Recreational areas. On page 12 is the only mention of generators and it states in "Other personal activities": A person must not use an audible device in a way or at a time that unduly disturbs another person. Then it list 8 items, number 8 being "electronic generator". It was updated on Jan 1, 2006. So, if the generator isn't "disturbing" someone, they can't make you turn it off. Just another case of power tripping. Heck, if you put it out of sight they can't hear it anyway. You can barely hear my Kipor 3000ti at 10 feet away.

I wasn't impressed at all with Brown County, No water at the sites you must fill your tank and run off it. Tie lines at each site(horse *^#@ everywhere, flies ect...) The riding was really good but the rest of it they can keep. I'll be at Mid-West. JMHO

We went there a few years ago. But we won't go back since they raised there fees. By time you pay camping, riding tags and out of state vehicle fee, that's a lot of money. Riding is better in Shawnee will stay with it. Just my 2cents worth.

They came around to all the campsites and checked...made everyone shut them off, even the quiet ones...So...we are done with them. They are not maintaining the trails, the bathrooms are usually a mess, and they only have one showerhouse for over 200 campsites! We now have a trailer with a shower in it, so I am not forced to use those facilities any longer, but you cannot even go there and enjoy yourself without someone there from the dnr bothering you over every little thing. I am done with them. At $31 a nite, I will spend my money elsewhere.
